TIRANA, December 29/ATA/ Education Minister Mirela Kumbaro visited today the “Urani Rumbo” school, one of the educational institutions in the historic area of the city of Gjirokastra, which has undergone reconstruction.
Minister Kumbaro emphasized during this inspection the need to restore the unauthorized occupied spaces to the school.
“The school lacks space for extracurricular programs and sports fields. The government has put the priority on interests of children and public property. When parents demand better conditions for children and for the spaces to be put at the service of the school, we will definitely clear them up. It is an action that has started all over Albania and there is no reason for Gjirokastra to be an exception. Schools are also community centers and we want to develop programs outside of school hours, they are equally in the interest of families”, said Minister Kumbaro, also emphasizing that the completely renovated school should be ready to open its doors to students in September.
“The school has more than 300 students. There is a joint project with the UNICEF; we are ensuring that the works are in harmony with the landscape of the Historical Area of Gjirokastra”, said Mayor of Gjirokastra Flamur Golemi.
The interventions in this school foresee the construction of a new roof, a hood system, reconstruction and new infrastructure, as well as improving energy efficiency./r.e/p.s./
