Constitutional Court denies claims on suspension of decisions against Deputy PM Balluku

TIRANA, 29 Dec /ATA/ – Albania’s Constitutional Court rejected Monday public claims about its vote on suspending the implementation of Special Court decisions against Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister Belinda Balluku.

In a statement, the court said reports on the procedure and outcome of the vote concerning preventive measures against Balluku were “entirely false.”

The disputed decisions, issued by the First Instance Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime in November 2025, imposed and continued a suspension from performing public duties.

The Constitutional Court noted that the case is still under review and will be examined in a public plenary session on 22 January 2026. The session will hear the Prime Minister’s petition and involve interested parties including the President, Parliament, the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor, and the Special Court.

The court urged all public figures to exercise caution in statements to avoid bias or undermining the institution, emphasizing its commitment to transparency, procedural integrity, and judicial independence.
