Albania aims for 35 billion-euro GDP by 2030, says Malaj

TIRANA, Dec 23 /ATA/ Minister of Economy, Petrit Malaj, stated today that ‘in less than a decade, the production potential of our country has tripled. GDP has increased more than threefold, from 9.6 billion euros in 2013 to 27 billion euros today.
In his remarks during a meeting with the business community on the 2026 Fiscal Package, attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, Malaj stated that ‘the projection is to bring the Albanian economy to 35 billion euros by 2030.'”
This is not just a statistic, but an increase in GDP translates into a much more active economy, more investments, more jobs, and, on the other hand, greater security. Equally important for the government is the quality of the economic growth our country is experiencing,’ Malaj emphasized.
Minister Malaj announced that ‘we have tripled the income per capita, from 3,300 euros in 2013 to over 10,400 euros today, and the government’s goal is for per capita income in Albania to exceed 15,000 euros by 2030.’

According to him, Albania has experienced faster and stronger growth than many countries in the Western Balkans.

‘Over the past 10 years, Albania’s growth has exceeded 110%, while the average growth of Western Balkan countries has been around 58%,’ Malaj said.
Malaj emphasized that the 2026 Fiscal Package is not just a technical exercise, but a strategic and political initiative by the government. It aims to support businesses, reduce administrative burdens, and foster a more competitive business environment.
Malaj highlighted that the government has increased budget revenues without raising taxes or fiscal burdens. ‘Our goal is a simple, transparent, and fair fiscal system that promotes fair competition, builds trust, and aligns with the EU framework,’ he said.”
Malaj highlighted that Albania’s European integration involves not only diplomatic and administrative reforms but also significant changes impacting the private sector.
“Malaj stressed that Albanian businesses must be fully prepared and competitive to succeed in the EU market, highlighting close collaboration to achieve the vision of Albania 2030 and accelerate EU integration.”
