TIRANA, December 22 /ATA/ As the opposition protest called by the Democratic Party was coming to an end, the situation became tense while some protesters threw dozens of Molotov cocktails towards the government building.
The tensions began immediately after the speech of the leader of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha. While Berisha, along with other democrat leaders left, some protesters began throwing Molotov cocktails that burst into flames, endangering the security forces who had gathered to guard the institution.
The protesters also clashed with the police officers, after removing part of the temporary fence around the government building and placing photos of members of the government cabinet.
Meanwhile, police intervened to extinguish the flames.
After these moments of tension, the protesters withdrew from the government building, moving along the boulevard towards the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, the Municipality of Tirana, and heading further on towards the Parliament.
The opposition protest was called after the lawsuit filed by SPAK against Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku. /p.s./
