TIRANA, December 4/ATA/ In context of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, OSCE Ambassador Michel Tarran visited the “Aleksandër Moisiu” University in Durrës.

During the visit, Tarran met with the university’s rector, Prof. Dr. Shkëlqim Fortuzi, with whom they discussed strengthening cooperation to empower young people as active contributors to a safer and more secure society.

Ambassador Tarran also held an open lecture on digital safety and preventing online gender-based violence.

The 30 participating students gained practical knowledge on digital safety, responsible online behavior and early prevention of gender-based violence.

“16 Days of Activism” is an annual campaign that began on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and continues until 10 December, International Human Rights Day.

By 2025, this campaign focuses on the mission of ending digital violence against all women and girls, one of the fastest growing forms of violence worldwide. Digital violence includes harassment, stalking, disinformation, fake digital montages and the distribution of intimate photos without consent via the internet, all of which are increasing significantly with the development of technology. /k.s/j.p/p.s./
