SHKODRA, Nov 27 /ATA/ – Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani stated Thursday that the upcoming December 28 snap elections in the country are a normal feature of democratic systems and expressed hope that a new parliament will be quickly constituted.
“Political situations, including the snap elections, are part of democracy. My hope is that immediately after the elections we will have the Assembly constituted and a government in place, as citizens are waiting,” Osmani told a gathering in Shkodra, northern Albania, ahead of November holidays.
Kosovo President stated that the National Independence Day celebrations on November 28 unite all Albanians.
Osmani, who was welcomed by Shkodra Mayor Benet Beci, highlighted initiatives strengthening ties between Kosovo and Albania. She pointed to the Shkodra-Gjakova road project, saying it could foster economic, cultural, and tourism cooperation between the two countries.
Reflecting on her previous visits, Osmani praised Shkodra’s support for Kosovo during difficult times, including the 1998–1999 conflict and post-war reconstruction.
“The city has stood by us, and today we move forward as two states pursuing EU integration. It is emotional to be here on the eve of Flag Day,” she said.
Osmani noted the week’s multiple commemorations: Albania’s Flag Day, the country’s Independence Day, the birthday of Kosovo liberation commander Adem Jashari, and the anniversary of the Kosovo Liberation Army’s public appearance. She also highlighted the strength of both countries’ armed forces and the continued support of international allies.
She said she would continue joint celebrations in Vlora and Tirana on Friday.
