TIRANA, Sept 22 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama on Monday said that the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Diella, will not be making decisions but is tasked with data processing responsibilities.
During the “Startup Albania” launch, Rama recalled the era when electricity was invented and how the parliament back then refused its use, labeling it as illegal.
The Prime Minister emphasized that it is sometimes regrettable that people allow themselves—through videos and data—to repeat what members of that era did against electricity, by refusing to have the parliament building illuminated by electricity.
“People who hold different, and indeed legitimate, opinions often misunderstand that the AI minister will not be making decisions on our behalf — we remain the decision-makers. We are not assigning her the responsibility to govern or make final judgments. Rather, we are entrusting her with the task she performs better than we do: processing data swiftly and delivering rapid responses,” Rama explained.
According to the Prime Minister, this concept is also at the core of the “Startup Albania” platform unveiled today.
“The Startup Albania platform operates on the same principle. It will handle all grant applications from startups through AI rather than our bureaucracy. Applicants will be able to transparently monitor the progress of their submissions, see who has been selected, who hasn’t, and understand the criteria that set the winners apart. Essentially, it provides the ability to process applications without human limitations, such as the major hurdles posed by bureaucracy,” Rama explained.
