Sunken MiG-21 fighter becomes underwater attraction off Dhërmi coast

TIRANA, Sept 21 /ATA/ – A Soviet-era MiG-21 fighter jet resting on the seabed off Dhërmi in southern Albania has become one of the country’s most striking underwater attractions, Defense Minister Pirro Vengu said Sunday.

Sharing images of divers exploring the aircraft, Vengu called the site “a beautiful example of how our military heritage can take on new life through tourism and adventure.”

The sunken jet, once part of Albania’s Cold War-era air force, now draws local and foreign divers seeking unique underwater experiences along the Albanian Riviera.
