TIRANA, Aug 30 /ATA/ Tirana’s “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center Cardiology Department provides patients with modern, high-quality care in state- of- the art facilities.
On Saturday, Minister of Health and Social Protection Albana Koçiu shared a video from the department showing a pacemaker implantation. She stressed that the procedure is more than a medical intervention—it offers a renewed chance at life for more than 500 patients annually.
“The Cardiology Department at QSUT starts each day with the mission of restoring a safe heart rhythm. Pacemaker implantation is not just a medical procedure—it offers a renewed chance at life for more than 500 patients every year,” emphasized the minister, highlighting the goals of Health 2030.
A pacemaker is a cardiac electrostimulation device that mimics the heart’s regular impulses when the heart beats too slowly.
Pacemakers consist of a battery, which functions as the atrial node, and leads (electrodes or wires) that are inserted into the heart through a blood vessel (vein). These wires transmit information, and according to the pacemaker’s pre-programmed settings, electrical impulses are sent to stimulate the heart muscle.
