TIRANA, Aug 21 /ATA/The General Directorate of Customs has initiated the development of a new Strategy for Digital Customs Systems, in collaboration with AKSHI, UNCTAD, and with technical support from the European Commission’s DG TAXUD.
This strategy is part of the European Union integration process and aims to align customs systems and legislation with Chapter 29 – the Customs Union.
In a press release today, the General Directorate of Customs stated that the latest Permanent Working Group meeting focused on the three main pillars of digitalization:
Trans-European central systems, covering certificate exchange, import control, and risk management;
Trans-European decentralized systems, including NCTS and centralized customs clearance;
National systems developed by Albania, such as arrival notifications, temporary storage, and the national import system.
“This strategy aims to transform the Albanian Customs into a modern, transparent structure fully integrated with the European Single Market, facilitating trade procedures and ensuring greater security in international exchanges,” the General Directorate of Customs stated in its announcement.
