TIRANA, July 9 /ATA/ The Albanian economy is expected to show positive performance in the years ahead.
According to the medium-term budget for 2026-2028, published in the Official Gazette, Albania’s economic growth is projected to be 3.9% in 2025. The forecast is even more optimistic for the subsequent two years, with growth anticipated to near 4%.
Over the medium term, economic growth is anticipated to be driven mainly by exports, domestic demand, and private consumption linked to increasing wages, alongside investments and robust performance in the tourism-related services sector and real estate.
Meanwhile, the Bank of Albania has also confirmed that monetary policy will support the country’s economic growth by ensuring that the banking system remains liquid and well-capitalized to finance investments in the economy.
The document states that, alongside this, fiscal policy will continue to focus on fiscal consolidation, with a projected reduction of public debt to 52.1% by 2028, down from the current level of 54.8%.
In the coming years, the government plans to prioritize expanding investments in infrastructure and public works alongside boosting employment opportunities. The target is to create jobs for 10,500 new young job seekers aged 16-29 by 2026, increasing to 11,000 by 2028.
Official figures show that the unemployment rate has fallen to 8.7%, reaching an all-time low in the last five years. This positive trend serves as a strong indicator of the country’s economic progress. /j.p/sm/
