TIRANA, July 9 /ATA/ An operation to clear public spaces is currently taking place across different streets and neighborhoods in the capital.
In response to Prime Minister Edi Rama’s nationwide directive, authorities in Tirana have begun removing tables, chairs, and canopies from sidewalks, as they posed a risk to the safety of citizens and pedestrians.
Prime Minister Edi Rama posted photos on social media from the “21 Dhjetori” area in the capital, where public spaces were cleared earlier today.
“This public space at 21 Dhjetori (like many others in Tirana today, tomorrow, and moving forward) is no longer ‘occupied land.’ At the same time, eight teams of architects have been deployed to assess the urban wounds that, following the cleanup, need restoration — to be revitalized through new community-centred projects. We’ve secured the support of over 100 renowned international architects, many of whom are active in Albania, who will contribute their project ideas free of charge,” Rama stated.
The clearing of public spaces is seen as a necessary step to improve service quality and the functionality of every business and enterprise, in line with national standards of hospitality and service—not only in tourist areas but throughout every corner of Albania.
Throughout the month of July, the clearing of public spaces will remain a key focus of both local and central government efforts.
The clearing of spaces in cities and public beaches across the country, as well as shared areas between apartment buildings, is expected to create more spaces that serve the public and promote a standard-compliant coexistence for everyone.
The Albanian Telegraphic Agency has shared footage of the work carried out in the “21 Dhjetori” area for the clearing of public spaces.
