TIRANA, July 6 /ATA/ – Albanian authorities reported 24 wildfire outbreaks over the past 24 hours, with six fires still active amid the heat wave across the country. The blazes have mainly affected shrubland and low vegetation, burning approximately seven hectares.
Active fires continue in the municipalities of Elbasan, Finiq, Vlorë, Tirana, Has, and Poliçan, where challenging terrain and weather conditions are hampering firefighting efforts. Three fires have damaged residential properties in Vorë, Tirana, and Korçë.
A total of 399 personnel, 34 firefighting vehicles, and 53 heavy machinery units are engaged in suppression efforts. The Albanian Armed Forces have also contributed 40 personnel, along with firefighting vehicles and specialized equipment.
Despite forecasts of light localized rainfall, fire risk remains high across most regions, with moderate risk in coastal and southeastern areas.
Civil protection agencies are maintaining full alert as they continue to monitor and respond to the evolving situation.
