TIRANA, June 30 /ATA/ In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Commando Forces, Defense Minister Pirro Vengu described them in a social media statement as “three decades of pride for the Armed Forces.”
“Defined by courage, discipline, and professionalism, the Commando Forces, approaching their fourth decade, remain a reliable pillar of security both nationally and internationally,” Vengu emphasized.
Vengu conveyed his “appreciation to the founders and all soldiers who have committed themselves to this distinguished unit.”
Three decades ago, on June 28, 1995, the founding of the Commando Brigade—now the Commando Battalion and part of the Special Operations Regiment— laid the foundations for a unit that would become a symbol of professionalism and dedication in service to the homeland.
Since 1995, this unit has set high standards in training, specialized operations, the protection of critical national infrastructure, and participation in international missions.
