Wildfire Situation: 9 Wildfires put out in 5 municipalities

TIRANA, June 28 /ATA/ The National Civil Protection Agency announced today that nine fire outbreaks have been reported in the past 24 hours across five municipalities: Tirana, Durrës, Kavajë, Lezhë, and Berat.

All fire outbreaks have been successfully extinguished without causing harm to people, homes, or livestock.

The National Civil Protection Agency reported that in six cases, the fires engulfed areas of shrubs and grassland, burning approximately 0.5 hectares.

“In two incidents, fires started in residential areas—one in Neighborhood No. 5 of Kavajë Municipality and the other in the village of Ishull Shëngjin—resulting in material damage. In the Ishull Shëngjin case, a gas leak caused injuries to a woman who was promptly taken to the Trauma Hospital,” the report stated.

Furthermore, in another incident, a private vehicle was engulfed by fire, causing only material damage.

Firefighting operations deployed 9 response teams and 64 fire engines.

The Institute of Geosciences forecasts no rainfall for today.

As for fire risk, a “high” alert level is predicted for the districts of Lezhë, Durrës, Tirana, and Fier, with the remaining districts expected to experience a “moderate” risk level.

The Civil Protection system, at both local and central levels, remains on standby and is closely monitoring the situation.

The National Civil Protection Agency (AKMC) calls on citizens to remain vigilant during these periods of high temperatures and to promptly report any incidents to the authorities.
