TIRANA, June 3 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Around 8000 households living in private and communal buildings across Albania will benefit from grants under renewable energy programs aimed at helping families reduce energy costs, improve energy efficiency, and transition to renewable energy source, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Ami Kozeli said on Tuesday.
During a hearing at the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, Kozeli introduced the draft law on the financing of the multiannual action plan for an Operational Programme on energy between Albania and the European Commission for 2024-2027 under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA III).
Deputy Minister said that the 79-million euros package – 50 million euros in grants from the European Union and 29 million euros in state budget funds – aims at sustainable development of energy sources, their diversification, efficient use and reduction of energy consumption in public buildings.
Kozeli also emphasized that this program aims to create conditions to open the energy market in full compliance with the third EU regulatory package.
“The program will also significantly impact energy efficiency in water supply and mobility through the installation of photovoltaic panels and the promotion of renewable energy generation used in the water sector, as well as through investments in the installation of electric car charging stations,” he said.
He noted that the operational program on energy focuses on four main areas, renewable energy and energy efficiency in public buildings.
Kozeli said that the investment projects include installation of renewable energy panels, mainly photovoltaic, and solar thermal collectors, and 8000 families are entitled to benefit from a series of grant schemes.
