TIRANA, May 28 /ATA/ Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, and Kate Ewart Biggs, Deputy CEO and Director of International Operations, signed on Wednesday in Kotor, Montenegro, the agreement for the Development of the National Strategy for the Creative Economy. Gonxhja described the agreement with the British Council as good news for Albania.

The Minister announced that the strategy will be drafted by some of the best British and international experts, among them John Newbigin, the Mayor of London’s Ambassador for the Creative Economy.

Gonxhja also stated that this strategy will include a series of legal reforms in key sectors of the creative economy, such as: cinematography, audiovisual media, sponsorship law, innovation, youth employment, design and craftsmanship, cultural tourism, and fiscal and social incentives.

He stated that the initial fund from this package will be immediately allocated to support the implementation of the strategy, while the second tranche of funding is scheduled to be announced in October, during the Berlin Process Conference in London.

This initiative is also supported by the World Bank through a dedicated plan aimed at promoting youth employment in the fields of culture and innovation.

Gonxhja stated, “This is an important moment for Albania — a concrete step toward a new economic model that invests in human capital and affirms the identity and creative energy of our country on the international stage.” /j.p/
