PM Rama: Women and girls to secure SP’s tenth election victory on May 11

TIRANA, April 17 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama, also leader of the Socialist Party (SP), has credited women with driving support for the ruling Socialists and drew attention to women’s enhanced participation in his party forums and in the decision-making process in Albania.

Speaking at a meeting with girls and women in the north-eastern Albanian town of Peshkopi on Thursday, PM Rama stated that progress in expanding space for women’s representation is a significant reflection of progress of Albania itself, vowing to further promote women empowerment and representation level in the country.

Rama said that the ruling Socialists draws strongest support from women voters, underlining that 56% of the SP’s support comes from women, rising to 65% in some districts.

“Around 56% of women and girls at a national level support SP. This support stands at around 65% in certain districts across the country. Party support from Dibra women and girls is estimated at 60%. Support for SP is lower among men, but it would take just one third of their support and the women support for the Socialists to achieve the best victory of all. This would be our tenth election victory,” PM Rama said.

Rama stated he was proud that SP draws strongest support from women all over Albania.
