TIRANA, April 2 /ATA/ The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, together with the Mayor of Gjirokastra, Flamur Golemi, paid a visit to the printing press “Argjiro Group.”
Kumbaro stated that “Argjiro Group” is not just a business in the printing industry, but an excellence in Gjirokastra’s manufacturing sector, covering not only a portion of the market nationwide but also extending further into the Balkans and Italy.
The minister stated that the printing press stands out due to its production line and working conditions, and most importantly, for the dignified wages offered to employees who have grown professionally there.
Kumbaro expressed her deep satisfaction that this business in Gjirokastra serves as an innovative model in meeting the expanded responsibilities of producers—responsibilities that we are working to formalize through legislation, aligning us more closely with European Union standards—while also becoming a tangible example of social responsibility that, in turn, generates income.
Kumbaro said, “The way you work, you are either a pioneer or prepared for a new law we have submitted to parliament, the law ‘On the Extended Producer Responsibility.’ This means that when a producer manufactures any product or imports it, they may create waste, just like you create waste from your production. And along with production, the producer is obligated to take care of the waste; to collect it, package it, sell it, recycle it, and not leave waste in the environment. This is the extended responsibility. You can see that this also brings profit.”
