TIRANA, March 25 /ATA/ Delina Ibrahimaj, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Business Climate, mentioned that “Currently, there are 2 million registered startups, with 4,500 businesses operating in the IT sector and 15,000 employees in IT, a sector that also offers the highest salaries.”
Speaking at the meeting held on Tuesday in Tirana with young winners who will be funded by the Startup Grant 2025 call, which was also attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister Ibrahimaj stated, “The startup ecosystem that has been established in Albania is now contributing to the country’s economic growth, while IT service exports are estimated at 200 million euros.”
“Following last year’s success with the startups we supported, this year we look forward to new ideas that will drive energy and sustainable growth. The Albanian government has designed the 2025 program to support startup companies and facilitators through grants and incentives, aimed at fostering innovative entrepreneurship by providing funding to the most promising Albanian startups,” Ibrahimaj stated.
The Minister highlighted that today, startups focused on innovation and information technology are highly sought after in the market.
She said that the government has focused on three main pillars to support this sector: flexible legislation that allows startups to register with a single click; the allocation of 10.5 million euros, 2 million of which came from the EU contribution; and the creation of an ecosystem where it is easy to be recognized.
