Three years of war in Ukraine, exhibition “Lost Childhood” opens

TIRANA, February 24/ATA/ The exhibition “Lost Childhood” opened today at the House of Europe in Tirana.

This exhibition, curated by the Ukrainian Memorial Platform in cooperation with the families of the victims, shares the stories of over 20 young children who tragically lost their lives due to the ongoing conflict.

The exhibition is opened on the third anniversary of the start of the war in Ukraine and is an opportunity to show solidarity with Ukraine.

Attending the opening of the exhibition was Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani, Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union to Albania Silvio Gonzato and the Ambassador of Ukraine Volodymyr Shkurov, who also delivered a speech, reflecting on the profound impact of the war on the most innocent of this war, the little ones in Ukraine.

On his part, Minister Hasani emphasized that, “The stories of more than 20 children lost in the war are not only very sad, but also a powerful reminder of the cruelty that is still happening.”

“This war in Ukraine has highlighted the critical significance of unity and solidarity – both within the EU and across our regions. It has reaffirmed the essential nature of cooperation to preserve the principles that bind us together”, the minister said.

While Ambassador Gonzato stated that, “We stand firm in our support for Ukraine’s fight against the Russian aggression.

Today, at Europe House, together with Albanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani, Ukrainian Ambassador Volodymyr Shkurov, EU ambassadors, and other partners, we honored the courage and determination of the Ukrainian people, three years after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, said Gonzato.

We opened the “Lost Childhood” exhibition, a heartbreaking tribute to the many Ukrainian children who have died in this war: young lives stolen, dreams cut short, and voices silenced, he said further on.

The “Lost Childhood” exhibition will be open until the 28th of February, at Europe House in Tirana.

Ambassadors and representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, as well as personalities from the country’s cultural life, also attended the opening of the exhibition.
