TIRANA, Jan 19 /ATA/On the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the Democratic Party’s founding, Chairman Sali Berisha held a meeting today with the party’s structures and supporters in Gjirokastër.
The leader of the Democratic Party said that the establishment of the party 34 years ago was a triumph for the highest ideals of humanity, including freedom and human rights, free initiative, national interest, patriotism, and the Western vocation of our nation.
“In 34 years, the Democratic Party, founded on the values and ideals of freedom, did everything to ensure and respect the freedoms and rights of the Albanian citizen. It transformed Albania, paving the way for its integration into the Council of Europe, NATO, and the European Union. However, another achievement, perhaps one of the most fundamental in our entire history, which is often forgotten and not written about, is the fact that in 2008, we went from being among the historically lowest-paid people in this region to becoming the highest-paid citizens compared to all other nations in the region. We moved from a group of low-income countries to a group of upper-middle-income countries, and this represents a ‘quantum leap,’ a historic achievement for us,” said Berisha.
According to the leader of the Democratic Party, on this path of development, the Democratic Party succeeded in bringing many emigrant families back to Albania.
