TIRANA, Jan 11 /ATA/ The process of registering Albanian voters residing abroad for the May 11th elections commences today and will continue until March 4th.
Albanian citizens residing abroad may register via the Electronic Registration Platform (ERP), which encompasses three primary sections:
Voter Section: This section is intended for individuals who create their personal accounts on the platform and meet the necessary criteria to register on the voter list.
Request Review Module: In this section, the Central Election Commission (CEC) examines and processes the applications submitted by voters, ensuring transparent and fair handling of each request.
Real-Time Statistics Panel: This panel presents up-to-date, real-time data on requests and their processing. It is available to political parties and organizations, providing a clear and detailed overview of the process.
An emigrant seeking to register must first create an account on the platform (ERP).
When submitting their request for registration on the voter list abroad, according to the rules approved by the Regulatory Commission, the voter must upload at least one of the listed documents to the electronic registration platform, which verifies their residence outside the territory of the Republic of Albania:
A property ownership certificate or an equivalent document from the country of residence, proving ownership of the residence;
A document proving residence in the foreign country, issued by the relevant authorities;
A rental contract or lease agreement for the residence;
Banking documents (loan contract/bank statement, etc.) containing the residential address;
Supply contract or water utility bill for the residence;
Supply contract or gas or electricity bill for the residence;
Contract or bill for the subscription of audiovisual transmission digital services;
Contract or bill for the internet or landline telephone service at the residence;
A document issued by the competent authority of the country of residence certifying the voter’s stay in a healthcare institution, refugee camp, or other similar facility;
A property ownership document or equivalent issued in the country of residence proving ownership of the residence.
A driver’s license (driving permit) when the residential address is indicated.
Or any other document issued by foreign authorities that proves the Albanian citizen’s residence at the declared address abroad.
The number of Albanian citizens registered at the same address applying through the electronic registration platform cannot exceed 6 individuals. Exceptions to this rule will only be made for justified reasons and upon submission of the legal documentation. In such cases, the platform (PER) will allow the registration of more Albanian citizens.
After registration, the CEC responds to the emigrant indicating whether their request has been approved or not. If the CEC does not approve the registration, it clarifies to the emigrant which documents need to be completed in order for the request to be approved.
The registration process is considered successful when the voter submits complete information and the request is approved.
