Spring bonus for pensioners, Rama: Government is considering possibility of making this bonus annual

TIRANA, December 16, /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that the government is considering the possibility of having an annual spring bonus for the pensioners.

“The New Year bonus is traditional. Initially, it was quite symbolic; then it increased, but in any case it has never been to the extent of the current year. And then, we shall give another bonus in spring, precisely as a result of the increased opportunities of the economy. And we want to make it an annual bonus”, Rama said.

During a meeting with former employees of the State Police, the National Guard, the Police Supervisory Agency and the Fire Service, Rama stressed that the government is in the process of preparing an increase in the pension fund.

“While on the one hand, we are in the process of preparing an increase in the pension fund, either by increasing revenues from the social insurance, but also by increasing the budget available for pensions and here I mean monthly pensions. I believe, it is clear that we are talking about a very large number of pensioners and very large figures for the possibilities and budget of our country. However, this does not apply only to our country, but also to a developed country since when it comes to pensions, they are a challenge in themselves”, said Rama.

Head of the government emphasized further that, “Today, the economy has begun to provide us with these possibilities, whether for giving bonuses or the potential plan for the gradual increase of pensions.”

“The average salary according to INSTAT happened to be higher than our ambition, which was a great ambition to have an average salary of 900 euros in the public sector and in the other three months an average salary of 968 euros, which is heading towards a ceiling that was unimaginable a few years ago, up to 1000 euros”, added Rama. /a.f/p.s./
