PM Rama: AI-driven public procurement system to enhance transparency and accountability

TIRANA, Dec 11 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama announced Wednesday that work is underway on building an artificial intelligence-driven platform to take Albania’s public procurement, transparency and accountability to a whole new level.

Speaking at a high-level meeting on the country’s European Union accession process, the government head noted that the AI-model will ensure very strong integrity of the public procurement process, saying that even EU member states would wish to build and implement such a digital technology-based model.

“I looked at the Eurobarometer survey on the citizens’ attitude towards corruption in the EU, with the findings suggesting that a large number of people in EU member states thinking that their governments were way more corrupt than the Albanian people think their government is corrupt,” PM Rama said.

“Together with the Minister of State for the Public Administration and Anticorruption Adea Pirdeni, with the support of everyone, we are working and we will soon unveil a platform on transparency, an innovative idea in terms of shedding light on the activity and everything that takes place and every single penny that is procured and spend in the country,” he said.
