Cross-Sector Strategy on Anticorruption 2024-2030 launched

TIRANA, Nov 4 /ATA/ – The Minister of State for Public Administration and Anticorruption, Adea Pirdeni, unveiled Monday the draft Cross-Sector Strategy on Anticorruption 2024-2030 and its Action Plan 2024-2026.

The strategy was drafted through technical assistance from the European Union-funded EU4 Good Governance project and it will serve as key political document that sets out concrete commitments of all institutions tasked with the efforts to further deepen the fight against corruption at all levels of government.

In her capacity as the National Anticorruption Coordinator, the State Minister for Public Administration and Anticorruption noted that the Cross-Sector Strategy on Antocorruption 2024-2030 aims to tackle the major challenges of combating corruption through a three-pronged approach: prevention, punishment, and awareness.

According to her, the new strategy envisages a series of systemic measures designed to consolidate highest standards of integrity, transparency and accountability of both state and private institutions in order to deliver efficient and quality services to the citizens.

This strategy specifically targets sectors vulnerable to corruption, including property, healthcare, taxation, customs, and education.

The strategy’s primary goal is to provide a significantly improved framework for coordinating all institutions responsible for fighting corruption. For the first time, the strategy will also be applied to local government institutions and will focus on promoting integrity in the private sector.

Additionally, the strategy aims to enhance education on ethics and integrity among all public officials and to revise the pre-university education curriculum to instill a culture of integrity in children and young people from an early age.

All measures in the strategy are aligned with Albania’s 2030 Agenda and address commitments arising from the EU negotiation process, aiming to build more robust institutions that are increasingly resistant to any breach of integrity.
