Bardhi: Suspension of opposition deputies is unconstitutional

TIRANA, Oct 9 /ATA/ The chairman of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, stated on Wednesday that the opposition will continue its action, adding that tomorrow the suspended opposition deputies will attend the session.

In a media statement after the meeting of the DP parliamentary group Bardhi stated that “the DP considers the measure of majority against the opposition deputies as an unacceptable provocation, and it goes without saying that none of our deputies will submit to personal decisions in a state ruled by Edi Rama.

“Punishing deputies without legal grounds, suspending half of the opposition’s parliamentary group from the Assembly, and preventing them from exercising their mandate for two months is an unconstitutional act which we are going to disregard. Without any doubt, we will go to the plenary session tomorrow,” said Bardhi.
“Certainly, under Edi Rama we are confronted with the army, just as every citizen who does not submit to the arbitrary, unlawful orders of this majority,” emphasized Bardhi.
He added that “an Assembly in a NATO member country, in an EU candidate country that prevents opposition deputies from entering their workplace with security forces reveals to every Albanian citizen and to the national and international public opinion the true characteristics of the state that Edi Rama is building.”
