Suspension of 24 MPs is requested; opposition blocks meeting of Ethics Committee

TIRANA, Oct 2 /ATA/ Opposition MPs have blocked the normal proceedings of the ethics committee in the Albanian Parliament.

The Ethics Committee met at 15:00hrs, following the request of the majority members. The opposition is seeking the suspension of 24 opposition deputies, arguing that they have caused violence and blocked the work of Thursday afternoon’s plenary session.

The Democratic Party MP, Flamur Noka, said at a media briefing from the Parliament Presidency headquarters that no one can intimidate the Democratic Party.

“Do you think that the deputies of the DP will recognize the decisions of the ‘narco state’? We are representatives of the opposition people who do not accept the gang of thieves and do not come to terms with the depopulation of Albania. We will be there. We do not recognize any decision, either of the ‘narco state’ or the tools of the ‘narco state’,” he said.

“The Socialist Party submitted a request to the Assembly yesterday seeking the expulsion of 24 Democratic Party MPs. According to the document signed by the deputies of the majority, the acts, particularly of deputies Flamur Noka, Bledion Nallbati, and Gazment Bardhi, has risked the lives of those present in the hall on September 30 by blocking the podium and hurling solid objects.

The expulsion is also requested due to the act of setting chairs on fire outside the hall, as well as the conflict of Noka, Bardhi, and Nallbati with deputies Petro Koçi and Erion Braçe from the majority.

The SP has requested the suspension of: Gazment Bardhi, Flamur Noka, Bledion Nallbati, Edi Paloka, Saimir Korreshi, Lefter Gështenja, Luan Baçi, Dashnor Sula, Agron Gjekmarkaj, Dhurata Çupi, Xhelal Mziu, Ina Zhupa, Zheni Gjergji, Helidon Bushati, Lindita Metaliaj, Ramadan Lika, Asllan Dogjani, Qani Xhafa, Flamur Hoxha, Isuf Çela, Kastriot Piroli, Lodovik Hasani, Kasem Mahmutaj, Edmond Spaho.
