TIRANA, September 18/ATA/- President Bajram Begaj stated today that cooperation with the United States of America remains a cornerstone and thanks to this stable and strong strategic partnership we have the security and confidence that the Western Balkans will continue to be a region of peace and stability.
Begaj delivered a speech to the 27th conference of the Chiefs of General Staff of the US-Adriatic Charter Initiative (A-5), which is taking place today in Tirana.
The president appreciated that the USA-Adriatic Charter initiative has confirmed over the years that it is a powerful and effective instrument for promoting peace, security and cooperation between our countries and the USA.
The president expressed his conviction that even in the future it will continue to contribute to the further integration of our region in the Euro-Atlantic family.
Begaj said that Kosovo’s membership in the Adriatic Charter is of particular significance, not just for Kosovo’s security, but would further serve the security of the region.
“To the young people of the region today, we should convey the message that only through cooperation with each other, only through working more and more every day to strengthen the security of our region and so, we will leave them a better future “, said Begaj.
The president also emphasized that the increase into 2% of the GDP for the defense budget is no longer the culminating point, but a stable basis for the upgrade of the defense forces. /p.s./
