TIRANA, September 2/ATA/ Chairperson of the Parliamentary group of the ruling Socialist Party (SP) Niko Peleshi extended today an invitation to the opposition to cooperate in the Assembly for all the initiatives aimed at achievement of the objectives of integration into the European Union.
In the speech he delivered at the opening of the new Parliamentary session, Peleshi reaffirmed the long-standing spirit of dialogue and cooperation of the SP in the Assembly hall and in the committees and working groups in the Parliament.
“This will of the SP does not stem from calculating the numbers, but as a sincere effort to give the citizens better laws, real debates on the problems that affect them”, he said.
Peleshi emphasized that, “This comes as a necessity to successfully achieve the major objectives of the country’s European integration process”.
“There are some challenges of this Parliament that are not partisan and do not belong to a governance mandate. They require a long-term commitment because they are related to the long-term future of Albania. Such are the initiatives to achieve the objectives of EU integration”, said Peleshi.
He emphasized that, “The Albanian government will not be integrated into the EU, but the Albanian state and the Albanian society, and the state does not belong to the parties”.
“Therefore, the representatives of the whole people should be involved in this process in the Parliament. The establishment of the dialogue group within the Law Committee as a preliminary political filter for all initiatives that require not only a qualified majority, but also a broader consensus is an achievement that the SP and its Parliamentary group will support and strengthen further with a clear political will”, emphasized Peleshi.
In this spirit, he invited the opposition MPs to actively join the newly started work in the two special Parliamentary commissions, very important for the current state of the country.
Peleshi emphasized that, “We are closer to EU membership today than ever”.
“The law enforcement institutions have done a great job towards the integration of Albania in the European Union. Integration in the EU has been a historic mission and we must cooperate for the common good”, he added.
Also, Peleshi emphasized the need to fight fake news, therefore we should support the Disinformation Commission.
“The government is looking for transparency. The toxic waste news became headlines before investigators and the relevant institutions had their say. To create a new political culture, we will restore transparency and you will run away from lies”, he addressed the opposition MPs. /r.e/p.s./
