TIRANA, Sept 2 /ATA/ – Gazment Bardhi, the Chair of the Democratic Party’s parliamentary group, vowed Monday that the main opposition party will firmly defend the citizens’ interests in parliament.
Addressing the new parliamentary session, Bardhi unveiled four DP priorities, namely the electoral reform, the proposal to increase minimum pension up to 300 euros, the living and subsistence minimum bill and the support for the country’s agriculture.
“These are the priorities we will focus on. This should also have been the focus of this Assembly, instead of patronage system. DP will fight for Albania of Albanians and not for Albania of a handful of powerful individuals. We will fight for Albania, where everyone can work and live decently and not an Albania where the strongmen impose their will and where wealth stems from corruption only,” Bardhi said.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the DP parliamentary group earlier today, Bardhi reaffirmed the party’s commitment to “securing a transparent and fair electoral process.”
He said that the DP will focus its efforts on achieving a genuinely fair election, criticizing the current system for its lack of transparency and meaningful reforms.
