Rama: Albania fully stands by Ukraine

TIRANA, September 2 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today in the speech delivered during the proceedings of Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia, that “Albania stands by Ukraine”.

Rama emphasized that it is out of reality that in our times, a country in Europe can decide to change the borders in a cruel way, by force.

“From our history, we have learned that in Russia they stick to the same tune”, said Rama.

The prime minister emphasized that Albania is fully with Ukraine, also for a very simple reason.

“It seems surreal, out of reality, that in our time a country in Europe can decide to change the borders in a cruel way, by force, taking what it claims is its land or part of it. This is unimaginable,” said Rama.

But, the prime minister said further, “We are aware that we are too small to change anyone’s fate”.

“We tried for 50 years to be the center of the world and it was not a good idea. So we are very proud to stand in with our partners and friends, the US and the EU. For us, it is crystal clear, no grey areas, it is all black and white”, added Rama.

The prime minister emphasized that there is question regarding democratic countries, large democracies, and this has to do with social media.

“You see how the Russians are penetrating everywhere through the means they provide or give them for free, harming our children every day as well as the sense of community every day. I’m talking about social media. It is the biggest asset that the Russians, Iranians or anyone else has”, said Rama.

The prime minister pointed at the TikTok platform.

“The version of TikTok in China is a wonderful reality, a place to live in immediately. For us, our version of Chinese TikTok is like hell on earth. Speaking about freedom, I say that to pretend freedom is not equivalent to the freedom of speech”, added the prime minister.

“I don’t think our parents were stupid when asked their children to behave politely; to think twice before speaking; not to reveal everything in public. The press was no less free when there was fact-checking, when you had no opportunity to go out there and insult and abuse and do all the most horrible things to another human being just because you have a different opinion than him or her. Something is slipping us here. The point is that Russians and all those who do not like our way of life have been freely opened the door to our fantastic space of freedom of speech”, said Rama. /r.e/p.s./
