Rama: Shala River, destination of amazing experiences

TIRANA, Aug 26 /ATA/ Shala River, which flows into Lake Koman, is attracting a high number of local and foreign tourists every year, owing to the nature beauty this area has been endowed with.

Portrayed by the foreign media as a “small paradise on earth”, this river is undoubtedly the most preferred destination especially among young people.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared Monday on social media images showing the atmosphere from Shala River, “which until a few years ago was completely under the radar, and today has become an up –and- coming destination of multiple experiences”.

Tourists enjoy exploring the area by boat, climbing the surrounding peaks with spectacular views, diving in the freshwater of Shala River and tasting traditional foods on offer in the guesthouses set up near it.

The Shala River flows from the Alps and has a length of 37 km from the source at the peak of Radohina to Drin. The River of Shala is famed for its water of deep blue colour.

It is home to a variety of fish, but the most widespread species is trout, which grows only in freshwater. The cold, blue coloured water is the trait of this river as the steep rocks surrounding it appear to pierce the sky.
