The expansion of protected areas in Albania aims to increase the integrity of these areas, for their unspoiled condition, compared to other areas of the country, for the high biodiversity, for the rare habitats they carry.
During this year, the Albanian Parliament approved legal changes on protected areas, which aim to ensure a balance between the development of communities in areas with tourism potential and protecting nature and biodiversity.
