TIRANA, August 1/ATA/ The government approved today the changes on work and rest, additional hours and their compensation in state administration institutions, independent institutions and local government units.
Minister of State for Public Administration and Anticorruption Adea Pirdeni said during a briefing after the government meeting that, “This is an initiative that we have taken in the framework of the re-energization of the public administration, to inject elements of flexibility in work, above all to guarantee that the Public Administration to be a more attractive employer”.
Pirdeni said that, “According to this decision, the daily working hours remain the same. Thus, from Monday to Thursday, 8 hours and 30 minutes, while on Friday 6 hours, but the public administration employees can choose to start the working day earlier and finish it earlier, or start it later and finish it later, guaranteeing that all employees are present in the office at 9:30 to 15:30, from Monday to Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday.”
According to her, this initiative is in response to a series of requests received from all public administration employees.
“This change guarantees more flexibility in regard to the start and end of the daily work, so that those who want to accompany children to school, kindergartens and nurseries can do so while finding a much friendlier working environment for them”, emphasized Pirdeni.
Further on, Pirdeni announced that, “This decision defines some rules regarding the authority responsible for deciding on the granting of annual vacations. This right can be delegated by the head of the institution or by the General Secretary to the director of the Human Resources Department so that to optimize the process of granting annual leave of the employees”.
“On July 26 of this year, the Assembly approved with a qualified majority the changes in the labor code to guarantee another flexible element in the way the whole vacation process is agreed for all employees of the public administration and not only for the private sector. Among the changes to the labor code, there is removed the restriction according to which public administration employees could not take annual leave for a duration of less than one week, but it determines that the annual vacation duration is 22 working days. So, there are added 2 days for all employees”, said Pirdeni. /k.s/p.s./
