Technical aspects on implementation of Social Security Agreement discussed

TIRANA, June 21 /ATA/ – Albania and Italy are advancing their discussions on the technical aspects that would ensure implementation of the Social Security Agreement the two countries signed this year.

The Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, announced via the social media on Friday that an Albanian delegation, headed by the Deputy Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Olta Manjani, and the Italian delegation, headed by Caterina Francomano, senior official at Italy’s Ministry of Labour and Social Policies, held fruitful talks and agreed on the content of the Administrative Agreement, as well as on exchanging drafts of the respective forms at their meeting on June 19 and 20.

“To ensure that the Social Security Agreement becomes applicable once the ratification instruments are exchanged, the two delegations voiced readiness to hold bilateral inter-institutional meetings as soon as possible,” Gonxhja said.

Gonxhja underlined that more than 550,000 Albanian nationals in Italy and many Italian citizens will benefit from the agreement, which was ratified by Albanian parliament recently.
