PM Rama: Tourism sector lacks skilled workforce

TIRANA, March 26 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama noted Tuesday that Albania’s tourism sector is facing lack of skilled workforce, although wages have been increased significantly compared to three or four years ago.

In his remarks at the National Conference on Vocational Education and Training, PM Rama underlined that businesses operating in the country’s nascent tourism industry are hindered by a shortage of skilled workforce to meet an exceptionally growing demand as Albania is increasingly becoming a popular tourist destination.

“We face a very stubborn fact, specifically in the tourism industry, a relatively new industry in Albania, in terms of creating an ecosystem that is rapidly growing its ambition, the investment opportunities to meet a staggering demand as Albania, in the eyes of the world, is becoming a top tourist destination. However, businesses in tourism sector lack human capital although wages have been increased at incomparable rates compared to 3-4 years ago,” the government head said.
