TIRANA, March 21 /ATA/ The Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, during the discussions on the “Normative Act” presented by the government for some changes in the 2024 state budget, said that the real purpose behind it is the transfer of the 400 million euro fund for the port of Durrës, despite the promise that this port would not be built through State Budget funds.
Speaking about the development project in Sazan, she said that it should have been discussed in parliament.
“Meetings were held with donors, consultations were held with development banks, the project was presented and it was said, just as that budget specialist who is now declared wanted, said that no money will come out of the state budget to build the new port. This empty rhetoric against development, and any other fantasy that has never come out of anyone’s mouth, at least not from the opposition, I believe is not worthy of discussion in this parliament. A new reality in the state budget that was promised that it will not happen, that it was promised that this will not be the way the new Port of Durrës will be built”, said Tabaku.
She also drew attention to the law of protected areas, framing it as tailor-made.
“In an extra-parliamentary procedure, defying all public hearings with environmental associations and citizens, the cards were raised in this hall, as they were raised for the Port of Durrës and the Theater of Tirana. Then, with the same formula, the Law on Strategic Investments was postponed for the 5th time, which in 75% of cases has given permission for tourist resorts in the south of Albania, even in protected areas, Butrinti is one of them. And lastly, but not least, the legal changes regarding the management of coastal areas, of course with the same beneficiaries”, said Tabaku.
