TIRANA, March 20 /ATA/ Buying online is today the solution and choice of many of us. But how informed are we about the risks we face as consumers?! This question and the need for awareness brought together institutions at the central and local govt. level, whose remit includes the protection of consumer rights.
In fact, March 15 is known as World Consumer Day, but one day is not enough to talk about this topic, which affects us all. To that end, the Consumer Protection Agency as well as the Directorate of European Integration and Foreign Projects, both institutions part of the Municipality of Tirana, organized the round table on the safety and transparency of online grocery shopping, symbolically called “Digital Fork.”
“We should not be satisfied with just one day, but meetings like this should serve to create communication platforms between institutions that focus on the consumer as well as the business,” Andi Seferi, deputy mayor of Tirana Municipality, said in his remarks.
As for Arli Naska, General Director of the Consumer Protection Agency, the exchange of information between institutions brings benefits for the consumer. “Let’s not forget that we are all consumers, from the child to the oldest citizen, so awareness campaigns are our priority,” Naska said.
The Municipality of Tirana itself has become part of the “Food Trails” project, which aims to draft food policies for the city of Tirana.
Adela Krajka, director of the Directorate of European Integration and Foreign Projects said that the project will be based on two main pillars; improving healthy nutrition for all strata of the population and reducing food waste.
“Digital Fork” is intended to turn into a continuous project of meetings, where the establishment of standards for consumer protection includes both the role of government agencies and organizations operating in this field.
