Karabina: Amendments to law on Protected Areas, unconstitutional

TIRANA, Feb 29 /ATA/ Amendments to the law on protected areas were made in the narrow based clientelism interests and to the detriment of our cultural heritage, public and citizens’ interest, the spokesperson of the Democratic Party, Mirela Karabina stated on Thursday in a statement to the media.

“The legal changes approved by the assembly at the proposal of a group of lawmakers are unconstitutional”, Karabina said.

“It is of great relevance to clarify that the government has removed the experts and researchers power to determine which natural reserves are necessary to be preserved as heritage, as well as to ensure the longevity of the habitats preserved over the centuries”, she added. //a.i/
