EU has provided over 250 million euros in pre-accession funding for Albania’s national programmes

TIRANA, Jan  9 /ATA/ –  Over the past two years, the European Union has provided more than 250 million in pre-accession funding for national programmes in Albania.

The office of the Delegation of the European Union to Albania shared Tuesday statistics about the EU assistance, saying “EU is the largest provider of financial assistance to Albania.”

The inflow of foreign direct investments (FDI) in Albania rose to 10.6% year on year to 1.1 billion-euro in the first nine months of 2023. In the meantime, Albania’s trade exchanges with the European Union member states were valued at around 7.1 billion euros in 2022.

In addition to the economic programs, EU attaches particular importance to the human capital and, in this context, the bloc is supporting Albanian youth, education and innovation.

The EU has already allocated 1.4 billion euros in investment projects, including 470 million euros in grants.
