Swedish Ambassador shares best experience and support for Albania in environment protection

TIRANA, Dec 29 /ATA/ – Sweden is sharing its best experiences and providing support to Albania in protection of the environment.

The European Union Delegation to Tirana shared Friday a video message by the Swedish Ambassador to Albania, Niklas Strom, who put emphasis on the need to increase public transport use and efficient waste management.

“Sweden is strongly committed to a swift green transition towards a future of economically sustainable growth for everyone,” Swedish Ambassador said in his message.

Strom noted that Sweden changes its systems and policies, advocating also sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

“For example, we promote an already well-established bicycle use culture, which leads both to a healthy lifestyle, but also helps to cut carbon emissions,” he added.

The Ambassador also said that “many Swedes are big fans of public transport, not only because it’s cheaper and better for the environment, but because it’s also often more time-efficient.”

“Sweden is also committed to efficient waste management. We Swedes take an active part in waste management by separating waste into categories such as organic waste, plastic, paper, and glass and metal, so that the waste can be recycled and reused. Less than 1% of waste goes to landfills,” Strom said.
