Three opposition MPs suspended for 10 days for throwing flares

TIRANA, Nov 10 /ATA/ On Friday, the Assembly decided to suspend from parliamentary committees and the plenary session for 10 days the MPs of the opposition, namely Saimir Korreshi, Elda Hoti and Lindita Metaliaj.

The disciplinary measure will run from November 13 to November 22 and comes after the request filed in the Assembly by 7 MPs of the Socialist Party, in regards to the chaos caused by the opposition in the last plenary session.

According to the MPs of the SP, the opposition MPs, with their acts in blatant violation of the Rules of the Parliament and the Code of Conduct, carried out actions to impede the conduct of the plenary session by bringing and throwing flares in the Assembly hall.

Based on this request, the Secretariat for Procedures, Voting and Ethics assessed that the request for taking disciplinary measures against the three opposition MPs is substantiated and as such should be accepted.

After administering the footage of the plenary session, the Secretariat assessed that the MPs have violated the Assembly’s rules performing acts that impeded the plenary session and breached the Code of Ethics.
