Hasani: Albania will open a diplomatic representation in Sarajevo

TIRANA, Nov 7 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, announced on Tuesday that Albania is in the final procedures of opening a diplomatic representation in Sarajevo.

In a hearing on the 2024 budget at the Parliamentary Foreign Policy Committee, Hasani responded to the MPs in regards to the priorities of the ministry he runs for 2024.
According to him, Bosnia and Herzegovina is the only country in 6 countries of the Western Balkans where Albania did not have a diplomatic representation.

“Bosnia-Herzegovina should be on the map of Albania’s diplomatic representation owing to many factors, such as joint commitments, the path of integration into the EU,” he said.
Asked about the pension agreements, Hasani informed that an arrangement has been agreed upon with Italy on the recognition of pension contributions between Albanian citizens in Italy and Italian citizens in Albania.
Hasani said that “we are in the final steps of signing this agreement”.

Also, he informed that an agreement has also been reached with Greece.

“These are two important but not sufficient steps to serve all our citizens so that they feel well treated even in the states where they have made their contributions,” he said.
Hasani also spoke about military diplomacy, emphasizing that MEFA is closely coordinated with the Ministry of Defense to determine the engagement of our militaries in missions based on the new developments presented by the Euro-Atlantic alliance.
