TIRANA, September 19 /ATA/ President Bajram Begaj attended the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, which preceded the start of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly.
President Begaj delivered a speech at the Leaders’ Dialogue session on the topic “Strengthening integrated policies and public institutions to achieve the objectives of sustainable development”.
President Begaj said that, “Sustainable development is our strongest guarantee for a world characterized by peace and stability”.
“Albania is moving on an accelerated development path, embracing a comprehensive and transformation approach that includes economic, social and environmental development. Implementation of the agenda of sustainable development objectives is not only a priority; it is a collective national effort where all state institutions are engaged, including civil society,” President Begaj said in his speech.
Further on, the president focused on the steps taken by our country in context of implementation of these objectives and singled out the approval by the Assembly of Albania of the resolution that outlines our commitments to promote, finance and monitor their realization, as part of our journey towards integration in the EU, the creation of the Objectives Acceleration Fund, financed mainly by the government, but also by non-governmental actors and partners.
President Begaj said that efforts should be intensified to give an impetus to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
“The Sustainable Development Goals continue to serve as our universal, indivisible and integrated guide leading our vision and aspirations for the years to come,” President Begaj said at the end of his speech./p.s./
