PM Rama: No real debate with Greece over Beleri issue

TIRANA, Sept 4 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama stated Monday that no real debate was taking place with Greek side about the issue concerning the elected mayor of southern Albanian municipality of Himara, Fredi Beleri, and reiterated support of the governing Socialist Party (SP) for the justice bodies.

The government head stated that the government doesn’t interfere in the work of the justice system bodies, but it supports their investigations and actions against corruption and organized crime.

“Anytime it is about the activity of these bodies and the anti-corruption and anti-crime prosecution office, SPAK, in particular, and carefully look at what is being discussed between us and Greece, or what Greek side is asking from us, from the government and from me personally. As they say, it is our political will that should address an issue about which the new justice bodies have undertaken their actions and have made their decisions,” Rama declared.

The government head said that “no real debate is going on with the Greek side about essence of the issue. The approach pursued by the Greek side actually shows that the new overturned relation of our political power with justice is going through a very tough test.”
