TIRANA, June 20 /ATA/ Minister of State for Service Standards, Milva Ekonomi, stated on Tuesday that the cyber attacks against Albania a year ago, were managed by the staff of the National Information Society Agency (AKSHI) and that our country was the first in the region to restore e-Albania to functionality right away.
During the review of the agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, for “Improving equal access to high-standard public services through the Govtech operation,” in the Parliamentary Committee for Economy and Finance, Ekonomi emphasized that diplomatic measures were taken as part of the response to attacks.
“Albania immediately took measures to protect from the cyber attack and asked the assistance of the risk management groups from ‘Microsoft.’ These groups detected the country the attack came from. AKSHI is attacked every day, but through the algorithms it builds, it has increased the system’s firewalls. As part of the response to the attack, we cut off diplomatic relations with Iran,” she said.
According to Ekonomi, the analysis showed that the staff of AKSHI was capable of managing this crisis.
“The silver lining to this is the fact that many countries in the region were attacked, but we were the first country that restored the e-Albania platform to operation,” Ekonomi said.
