Rama: Our universities, access into European Higher Education network

TIRANA, May 27/ATA/ Students and lecturers of the “Ismail Qemali” University in Vlora, beneficiaries of the ERASMUS + program, as well as foreign students from European universities with whom the University of Vlora has a cooperation agreement, in the framework of this program, were today together with Prime Minister Edi Rama in a discussion on higher education and the significance of the internationalization process of universities, as a necessity for their further transformation and offering diverse alternative for young people who pursue their studies with the same programs and the same standards like in European countries .

Rama said that, “The internationalization of universities is our priority, with the goal of opening as many doors as possible to students and lecturers in Europe and bringing as much knowledge as possible to our country”.

This process, continued Rama, is a necessity for the development of the university where we will be able to give students the opportunity to train here at the university, where they have diverse alternatives, which are offered to them in the same standard programs like in European countries.

According to him, this is possible through internationalization and he expressed optimism that the number of students and lecturers involved in international programs is increasing.

He emphasized the significant increase in participation and success rate in European universities, which gives opportunities for academic teams to benefit from funding, thus increasing their income from scientific work.

“These are funds where for a long time, Albania remained in the tail-end of the situation as a result of the malfunctioning of the universities, but with the Reform in Higher Education, there are taken systematic steps and innovations so that not everything is expected from the government, but many things come from interaction, from internal organization and interaction with foreign universities”, said Rama.

The head of the government emphasized that, “we have achieved something important from the EU, which we made concrete at the Tirana Summit with the EU, for the access of our universities to the European Higher Education network, which enables our universities to be included in European projects and programs, without waiting for Albania to become part of the EU”.

“This is an innovation step for our universities and it should be used”, said Rama.

Rama wished success to the students in the international programs where they interact and expressed the commitment of the government for continuous support in this way. /p.s./
