Rama: Record pay raise after overcoming subsequent shocks

TIRANA, April  24 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama informed on Monday that the minimum wage will continue to increase with the aim of bringing it up to 60,000 ALL.

In a meeting with business representatives in Durrës, Rama said that we have come to the turning point, when the government has started to increase salaries.

“Fortunately, for many reasons, the government has managed to take a major step forward after overcoming subsequent shocks such as the earthquake, the pandemic and others triggered by the war, such as the soaring price of energy for which we continue to subsidize every day and month the families in order for your energy bill to remain unchanged,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the historic salary increase has already started.

“We have come to the point when we can raise salaries,  embarking on the journey of a record increase that has started now and will end within a year, bringing the average salary in the public sector to 900 euros, almost doubling the average salary,” he said.

This measure, according to him, is based on the historical need for a resilience front to prevent the decline due to the shrinkage of human capital.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the trend of returnees in Albania is increasing, despite the contention that there are more people leaving the country than returning to homeland.
