TIRANA, April 14/ATA/- During the joint press conference with Minister Olta Xhaçka, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain Jose Manuel Albares Bueno stated that during the Spanish Presidency of the EU, they will support Albania’s progress in the membership process.
Bueno highlighted the increase of cooperation between the two countries, which was finalized today with the signing of a cooperation agreement.
“The relationship between Albania, the Balkans and the EU are topics we talked about with the minister. We also talked about Kosovo’s relationship with Serbia. This relationship is beyond economic ties. We stand in solidarity during crises. We helped Albania with assistance for vaccines and medical assistance during the pandemic,” he said.
Further on, he said that we also shared the same opinion about Russia’s unjust and brutal aggression against Ukraine.
“We talked about Albania’s role in defense and global issues as a member of NATO and a country that will join the European Union, and I mentioned Albania’s role in very important security issues. We, in Spain, promote and appreciate the values that are written in the United Nations Charter of Rights. In Spain, there is also reflected fight that the police did and the cooperation between Albania and Spain to fight criminal networks. There is also cooperation at the private level in terms of the tourism sector and we hope that the presence of Spanish companies in Albania will increase”, said Minister Bueno.
The Spanish chief diplomat also informed that a meeting at the level of prime ministers will be organized between the two countries to further strengthen cooperation in various fields.
“In these moments, we share many common values which concern the United Nations Charter for Peace, the fight against terrorism, extreme violence and women’s rights. I will meet Prime Minister Edi Rama and convey these messages to him in the same form as I conveyed to the minister and how we will organize support for Albania during the Spanish Presidency. We will also organize a meeting at the level of prime ministers between the two countries to help us strengthen this common path that we have taken”, he said./p.s./
